"I found the lost '5 trillion bitcoin'"
As a result of a recent survey of 1,000 users on a US cryptocurrency site, 40% of the respondents lost their blockchain password, and the amount of Bitcoin that could not be found per person was $2,134 (about 2.46 million won).
Business Insider reported that a service that finds passwords for cryptocurrency wallets is attracting attention based on the inconvenience of cryptocurrency investors.
Chris Brooks and Charlie Brooks, who run Crypto Asset Recovery, started the business in 2017 as a father-in-law.
They provide a service by tracking back the number lost in the password and filtering the result again. As a result, the two estimated that they could find 68,110 to 92,885 bitcoins.
Although 14% of the passwords were found through the backtracking method, the actual bitcoins found were only 2.45% of the request amount.
However, based on the upper end of the estimated bitcoin estimate, they found a whopping $4.7 billion (about 5.4 trillion won) of bitcoin.
The two wealthy programmers, who majored in computer science, said the time it takes to find a password varies from case to case. The fastest time to find it was only 5 seconds, and there were cases where it found a Bitcoin wallet password worth up to $250,000 at a time.
The commission rate is as high as 20%, but more and more customers are trying to retrieve their passwords. If the password is not found, there is no fee.
The fee rate is reduced for 1-10 bitcoins by 20%, for 11-20 bitcoins by 15%, and for more than 20 bitcoins.bitcoin
